The Senior Center is operated for the benefit of Hebron citizens past age 55
The Center serves a noon meal five days a week and operates a Meals-On-Wheels program for shut-ins.
The Center is open five days a week form 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM for socializing. Members and nonmembers over age 55 are welcome to socialize. Seniors enjoy playing cards or pool on the two pool tables available or just visiting. One of the attractions is jointly completing jig saw puzzles.
Monthly membership meetings are held on the second Friday of each month. The Center has a board of directors elected at an annual election in November each year. The funding of the Center is secured from a county mill levy and numerous fund raisers by the membership. Also, some of the funds come from donations made from non-profit organizations.
Custer District Health provides blood pressure checks and foot care for all community Seniors on a monthly basis at the Center.
The Senior Center offers bus in the community and trips to Bismarck twice a month on the second and forth Tuesdays of each month. There is also a trip to Dickinson on the third Tuesday of each month. The buss is also utilized for day trips of special occasions such as to the Medora Musical for a day in Medora to enjoy this wester North Dakota tourist attraction. Also trips have been made to Lewis and Clark historic points of interest at Washburn and Stanton in North Dakota. We have taken in several Musicals as a group in Bismarck and are planning on many more in the future. In addition to these uses, the bus picks up Seniors daily to go to the Center for the noon meal and activities and of course returns them to their homes.
The Center helps members celebrate their birthdays each month on the fourth Friday with Bingo and birthday cake.
The members gather in the evening of the third Thursday of each month for Pot Luck supper, cards and games. There are usually more than 30 people enjoying this every month.
The Lady members of the Center are known for making wonderful quilts. They have a special spot in the building to do this handy work. They contribute greatly to the funding of the Center by selling their quilts. They are always looking for Ladies to join them in this endeavor. This turns into a daily social event for them.
The members do hold several fund raisers during the year. One of the most successful has been the annual Pie Social and Raffle. The community comes out in large numbers to join the members for this event.
We are always interested in welcoming new members or any Seniors to our Center. If you are in the community as a new resident or just passing through, please come and join us.
